I love roses, and I've been trying to draw some, but I just can't get it right. I'd love some techniques or links to sites that may help! :)
How can I draw better roses?
Here.
I love flowers.
Reply:Go and look at the anatomy of a rose (a real one if you can). It's more than a bunch of curves and a stick.
Look at where the petals actually grow from and how they curve and form. Look at what the stem really looks like, note how it gets thicker towards the flower.
When you add the tiny, correct details, it is noticed and it makes your roses look better.
Reply:Roses are hard. I should know, I've been painting them off and on for years. There's no way to make them easy to draw. But you'll get better with practice and observation.
Tips:
Keep in mind that the petals actually overlap in a spiral around the center of the flower. Each variety of rose has dozens to hundreds of petals per flower, so you might not have noticed this before.
Draw white or pale roses at first. You will be able to see the subtle value changes and the shadows cast by the petals MUCH more easily than on a red rose.
Put a good direct light source on your rose, so that there are a lot of shadows. Sometimes it's easier to draw the shadows cast by the form than the form itself.
There are probably many technique books available. Maybe go to Amazon and do a book search on "drawing flowers"?
Reply:I draw them all the time off memory %26amp; leave them as "tips" to the women when going to coffee or the bars. (the best thing to do is find pictures or art books that show how to draw them-go in the libraries or book stores. (start in the middle, %26amp; work your way around-as of an open rose.
Reply:,practice , practice ,practice

Reply:Try drawing a rose without looking at the paper, just focus on looking at the rose infront of you.
