In the Florida landscapes. I have a climbing red rose, beautiful when it blooms, however I am wondering if I could do something besides feed it to make it bloom more often.
Roses: what is the best way to get the most blooms?
Keep them trimmed up,if they are climbimg bushes, then don't "cut back"..as for diseases, you don't need to spend lots of money...
1 1/2 tbsp. of baking soda
1 tbsp. dishwashing liquid (Dawn works great)
1 tbsp. canola oil
1 C plus 1 Gal of water
1 tbsp. vinegar
Instructions:
Mix the baking soda, dishwashing liquid and oil with 1 cup of water. Than add the vinegar last because the mixture may bubble over. Pour the mix into a pump sprayer, and add the remaining water. Thoroughly spray your roses, covering the tops and bottoms of leaves to the point of run - off.

Reply:cut roses back fromm where they last bloomed feed them banana peelings into their soil
Reply:Be sure to remove the blossoms when they begin to fade - this encourages new buds to form.
Reply:If they are blooming well but don't bloom often, this is easy.
After the flower has died, trim it back to (or below) the next set of leaves that have 5 leaflets. Not 3, but 5!
If you just trim off where it flowered, it will grow leaf shoots, not flower buds. Trimming back to 5 will force it to shoot up flower buds.
That should be it, good luck.
Reply:epsom salt is a great fertilizer. (great for other things too)
Reply:miracle grow.....and use it on a regular basis. also make sure you don't have any of that black mold growing on there and do what you can to keep it bug free. you might also want to keep the base covered in winter if it freezes where you are.
Reply:crushed egg shells are a great source of calcium and nitrogen, both of which are good for roses.
Reply:miracle grow
