I know there are several ways. I'm looking for the preferred floral method without the use of tape. I'm going for an interview and must show my best work. I'm alittle rusty and would like to impress the owner.
How to arrange dozen roses in vase?
Ok I worked at a florist for three years. Flowers are always displayed professionally in an odd numbered pattern.
Cut the ends diagonally, then with a knife crush them a little.
(This allows them to absorb water better and if cut straight the ends will leak goodness instead of absorb anything.)
Use a knife to strim all nettles but try not to strim the actual stem. If in doubt carefully pull them sideways to snap them off one by one. Cut off any lower leaves that are going to sit in the vase.
Put them in boiling water for 30 seconds to open the petals.
If you have leafy green stems to use then do. Tradionally gypsophilia is used (the flower which has lots of little white heads on.)
I would start with one piece of greenery or gypsophillia ate the back of the vase. With only 12 roses you are best arranging them so they can be placed where people can view whem face on rather than all round.
Place one rose in the centre of the vase, the talles one.
Put two more in slightly shorter angled north-west and north-east out of the vase, one sligthly higer than the other.
Then add any more greenery you can if you have any before putting the rest of the roses in.
None of the roses shoule be at the same height.
They should all protrude from the vase at different angles.
Visualise your rose heads as dot and cross paper. If any roses heads are parallel horizontally or vertically, your arrangement will be unbalance.
Flowers look best arranged in odd numbers. So if you see a diagonal row of three, this is good, four is not!
Your stems should get shorter as you work outwards.
Remeber keep them all angled.
The beauty of designing in a vase is that it is not a permanent fixture, so you can always re-arrange.
Good luck, hope you get the job x
P.S Try your best and remember your best is all you can do so try not to worry too much.
P.P.S Confidence sells and art is as good as it is justified to be!
