I have two newly planted bushes this spring that have started producing needle like light green leaves and no blooms. they seem stunted? What am I doing? How can I make them better?
Why are my climbing roses producing tiny tiny leaves and no blooms?
They need at least 6 hours of direct sun a day to do well, and about an inch of water a week in the summer. I would not fertilize at this time, but I would transplant if you've got them in shade.
Next spring, you can fertilize with something with a higher amount of P and K than N.
Reply:That sounds like a deficiency in nitrogen. I'd suggest putting a good balanced fertilizer on them according to the directions on the package. Good luck!
Reply:Mom's were doing this, and after she used plant food for roses, her's started blooming and getting healthy.
Reply:You need to feed them!!! Roses are big eaters. And they need at elast 8 hours of sunlight per day.
Reply:They are busy with new root growth. You should have blooms next spring and more the following year.Give them granular fertilizer once a month and plenty of water.Roses need lots of both. They also need 6-8 hours of sun every day.Check your location for sun and good drainage.
Reply:we used rose food....it seemed to help.....good luck
