Will they last 2 hours, or do I need to put them in water myself?
I just bought some roses for my girlfriend. How long do I have until they need to be put in water?
Put them in water asap. You can even cut the stems at a slant and put them in - helps absortion. If you bring them in a pretty vase, she may even appreciate them more!!
Reply:i should cut the ends off a little and put them straight into water. if they have wilted you can cut the ends and put them in boiling water for a few second but do this just before you take them round to you girlfriend.
Reply:In a pinch, you can wrap damp newspaper around the cut stems, but be sure to get them into water within an hour or two. Keep them in the shade and cool...in the trunk of the car?
Reply:They should have the individual little water vials on them -- if that's the case they should be fine -- if they don't it definitely won't hurt to put them in water, they'll stay prettier that way. Put them in the refrigerator to keep them fresh.
Reply:You should put them in water as soon as you can. They will last for awhile without though, then revive as soon as you re-cut the stems, plunge them in temperate water, then cold water. wrap the stems in wet newspaper until you can get them in water.
Reply:If you can't put them in water within reason place them in the refigerator
Reply:Hurry..... ASAP Cut the ends and add the stuff in the packete to the water
Reply:They will last, but when you do put them in water, cut the stems and then place them in water. This will keep them alive longer. It is best if you make a bowl of water with the fertilizer in it, and then cut about an inch from the stems under the water. When that happens that means the stems automatically suck in water and there is not an air bubble keeping water from the roses. I hope she likes them! This really makes a difference in how long the last, from 4 days to two weeks!
Reply:If you bought the roses from the grocery store, you should have grabbed a floral plastic bag to put them in. Take the roses out of the bag, get a paper towel to wrap around the bottom of the stems, then moisten the towel; add a little water in the floral bag then put the roses wrapped in moist towel back into the bag. This will help the roses last until you can give it to her within 2-3 hours. Make sure that when your girlfriend gets home with the flowers that she knows to cut the stems at least 1/2 inch to 1 inch with sharp scissors or knife then immediately put this in a vase full of tepid water, if the floral preservative is available, she needs to add this into the vase.
