THe blooms are not opening well either. ANy ideas?

The blooms on one of my roses are crinkled and dry looking - what's wrong?
I think it sounds like Thrips, an insect that attacks the rose buds. Thrips seem to have a preference for buds that are on the verge of opening. They will either prevent blooms from opening, or if the blooms do partially open they will be distorted and have brownish, yellowish, white or black lines and spots. The edges of the petals will turn brown. Leaves curl and leaf margins turn white yellow or brown. Damage is caused when they attack the plant tissure and suck out the sap.

1) to much sunlight/to little sunlight

2) not enough water

3) it can be the plant itself

4) the dirt its planted in can affect the roots

5) not all the flowers will be perfect, it could of bloomed first and be dying first
Reply:You need to prune some of the buds off, or maybe even the whole branch. The plant isn't getting enough water to feed all the buds. Rule of thumb: prune down to the first five-leaf formation. You should notice a difference in about a week. And don't just try watering it more. A single plant can only handle getting water %26amp; nutrients to a reasonable amount of buds. Prune, prune, prune!!!
