I was just wondering if this is normal and if it has ever happened to anyone else. I have them in triangle type shape at about 3 feet apart from each other. They were white when I put them in, bloomed once, and now the new blooms are a light pink color. Is there anyway to get them back to white or am I stuck with pink roses?
I planted 3 different color minituare roses, white, red, and a purple/white mixture. Now the white are pink.?
Today's hybrids are grafted onto a briar root. When the branches from the hybrid are pruned back too much or otherwise damaged, the root sends out growth which will blossom. It's the original bloom you're getting and not the hybrid.

Reply:or it could be a fungus called Botrytis, or grey mold. this turns white flowers pink, usually in spots but often it is tinged pink. also it tends to ruin the flowers, some don't open.
Reply:Sometimes they graft roses to make them hardy where they aren't usually. Some things that are grafted will start producing flowers from the roots. IE: you purchase a red rose but the flowers come up white. The white flowers are from whatever cultivar or type of rose the roots were from. I hope that doesn't sound too confusing.
When that happens they usually don't revert back to what they were to begin with.
They could be cross pollinating too... but its more likely something to to with it having been grafted
Reply:Several years ago I planted a red, a white and a soft pink along a fence about 15 feet apart. They all came out hot pink. I get lots of flowers from early spring to late fall, though, and they smell fantastic.
Reply:some plants have a tendency to change colors for one reason or another. I have a shrub rose "austrian copper" that has orange flowers, every once in awhile I have one or two branches that come in yellow, the next year they are orange again. as long as the plants are healthy and beautiful I wouldn't worry about them
Reply:This has happened to me with my peonies.
I planted a mixture of red and white. The following year, when they bloomed everything was perfect. The next year, like you, my white had turned to pink.
Unfortunately, our little friend the bee, had a lot to do with this.
He has cross pollinated your roses. I am not too sure, if you can get them back to white. My peonies didn't return to white.
I am going to contact my local university greenhouse for some tips. I suggest that you do the same.
