Spray on a mixture of washing up liquid and water.
How can I get rid of green aphids on my roses?
If you like birds, hang up a peanut feeder near the roses. The little birds (blue **** etc.) it will attract love aphids and are small enough to hang off your roses to eat them. Hoverflies and ladybirds should also be encouraged as suggested by others. Don't spray them or you won't get all the lovely creatures that eat them. Be patient.
Reply:25ml of olive oil to 1 litre of water kills aphids, spidermites washes off eggs brilliant concoction
Reply:A mixture of washing up liquid and water, leave for 24 hours and wipe off with a wet cloth.
Reply:Spray them.A weak solution of washing up liqiud or loads of insectides from a garden centre.
Reply:spray them with soapy water.....................cheap and easy...........also a clove of garlic placed at the roots of the rose will help keep them away
Reply:If there are only a few, smash them with your fingers into what we call 'aphid butter'.
You can spray them off with a hose. I'd only do this in the morning with roses to avoid getting black spot.
A mild soap solution is also good for killing aphids. Use the kind they sell in garden stores. Dishwashing soap is not soap, it's detergent.
If you have trouble with powdery mildew or black spot, neem oil is also great, as it kills aphids too. One brand is Rose Defense.
Reply:Release ladybugs into your garden - they eat aphids.
Reply:Don't just spray with soapy water, water the plant properly with it. The plant will draw up the water making the sap taste soapy and the aphids will find somewhere else.
Reply:knock em off with a strong spray of water... then stop using prepared "fertilizers" on your roses...or anything else.
only fertilize with manure, compost tea, or fish emulsion. Your plants will be less tasty to the bugs. Aphids and other bugs tend to attack chemical based fertilizer fed plants before they attack an organically fed plant..... It's a fact
and don't use Neem oil for black spot or powdery mildew... just spray with a solution of Chamomile Tea that you have let cool down to room temp.... it's a natural fungicide.
Reply:spray em off with a strong blast of water then think about using this new stuff from bayeradvanced! i use it and have not had one problem this year..(knock on wood) ... good stuff though really! walmart or lowes has it!
Reply:lady bugs do work great, but use dish liquid and water two tablespoons per gallon should do the trick, spray well
Reply:roseclear or soapy water
Reply:I understand diluted washing up liquid does the trick - so next time you wash up pour the contents of the bowl over your roses. At least if it doesn't work you'll have squeaky clean aphids.
Reply:check out the links. lots of good advice. Good luck to you and your plants.
