How did roses end up coming to Europe?

The cultivation of roses most likely began in Asia around 5000 years ago.

Cultivated roses weren’t introduced into Europe until the late eighteenth century. These introductions came from China and were repeat bloomers, making them of great interest to hybridizers who no longer had to wait once a year for their roses to bloom.

They started out as the wild rose, a very pretty, 5-petaled native wildflower with a sweet scent that blooms once a year. They were bred and hybridized to create all the varieties now available.
Reply:I remember once seeing that Marco Polo is the one that 1st introduced those into Europe
