Sometimes the suckers stand out as brambles but others look like a normal rose

When pruning roses whats the best way of identifing suckers?
suckers on roses are usually born at the base of the stem and are a light green colour and are smooth without thorns.

The stem is quite often a reddish colour with soft, pliable thorns.

Reply:i think it has some thing to do with the amount of leaves,, is it not seven but nine?
Reply:a sucker is normally greener and lankyer then the rose it is on
