Mid winter or early spring when they are dormant or semi dormant.

When is the best time to prune roses?
if they are done blooming, you can do it now before it starts getting cold.also it depends on where you live.
Reply:Winter pruning should be done between November and March
Reply:January/February before they start to sprout new growth.
Reply:May-September depending on the locality and the type of roses.
Reply:it will depend on where you are in the country, the further north you are, the later you should prune back. the farther south you are, the earlier you can get away with - as it's milder through winter.

prune back extensively long growth to avoid any autumn and winter damage from wind and snow.

Then in late winter (depending on where you are) through to early spring, prune back hard to just above a new bud.
Reply:The best time to prune is late fall. That's when the plant is putting it's energy into the roots. You can cut the dead blooms off at any time, it promotes new growth. I wish you could see my rose gardens, i have many of them and my neighbors are always asking for help with theirs.
Reply:I prune mine year round...never had a problem, but I live in TX where it's warm most of the year. I do not like them getting too big and woody.
Reply:Spring time
Reply:Valentine's day
Reply:2:30pm.
Reply:Prune by one to two thirds in November to stop wind damage (roses loosening) over the winter and then prune in spring March to April.
Reply:i always prune mine the week between Christmas and New Years. show no mercy. cut them way back!!!! They will come right back bigger and better.
