What is a good way to preserve roses?

My boyfriend sent me a rose for our first valentine's day together and i wanted to save it but wasn't sure how to keep it looking nice.

What is a good way to preserve roses?
Hang them upside down and let them dry out. I did this for my wedding bouqet.
Reply:Hanging upside down is the cheapest way, but you can buy a product called silica gel and put them in that to keep them soft and colorful and preserved.

The use of silica gel in preserving flowers takes a little more patience, but the results are exhilarating.
Reply:If you hang them upside down the color does not drain as much as fast!
Reply:i have always hung one up side down and just let it dry out or you can always spray it with a clear laquer or press it in a book
Reply:You can press it inside a heavy book, or any book, then something heavy on top.

The roses will become flat, but will be preserved and look really nice. Another nice thing of having them flat is that you can put them in a scrap book, album, or frame.

Be sure to do this before it dries. If its already dry, it will break.
Reply:Fridge. =)
Reply:I think one way is spraying them with hairspray. It worked for mine, anyway.
Reply:tie the stems together and hang them upside down on a wall.

or...put them in a book.
