So, there are so many foods for roses, I am not sure what to use? I do not want to retard the blooms or turn my plants into fertilizer junkies, but I do want them to bloom nicely. Also they were just recently put into the ground, do I have to wait awhile for them to get established before feeding???
What should i feed my roses?
there is a special rose food. fowl manure is always good.
Reply:Apply a proprietary rose feed, there are many brands on sale, including Toprose.Lightly hoe the feed in,preferably while the soil is moist.
Cover the soil around the base of the rose with a mulch of well rotted horse manure, but don't use fresh material, this will heat up and damage the plant.
Applying a dilute liquid fertilizer will help, newly planted roses give their best show during the first year.
If the plants were not pruned before planting, prune lightly for a good show of small flowers, harder if a few large blooms are preferred.
Reply:I use coffee gounds
Reply:Rose 3 in 1 is the only thing I use on mine. It fertilizes, kills bugs, stops fungus (the black spots on leaves). Just mix it with water and apply. Fast, simple, great roses always. Always dead head the rose blooms after they fade unless you want them to grow so you can harvest the rose seeds or turn them into rose hips for taking internally. Dead head means cutting of the dead blossoms.
