Does spraying roses with hairspray preserve them?

My husband got me a beautiful arrangment of roses for my first Mother's day this year and I would like to preserve a few of them. We both have heard that spraying hairspray will work, but don't know anyone that has actually tried it. If there is anyone that has tried this method, please let me know how it worked for you and exactly how you did it. Thanks!!!

YES WORKS WELL, ALSO TIE THEM TOGETHER FROM THE STEM AND HANG THEM UPSIDE DOWN( DON'T BE SHY ON THE HAIRSPRAY)
Reply:Patsy is right...You can use hairspray. I worked at a flower shop for 15 years...We used to dry all kinds of things.

Just make sure you hang them in a place that is dry and well ventillated so that moisture isn't a problem, which can make the rose heads rot.

You can also use spray glue, (available at craft stores), and it is a bit more durable and longer lasting than hairspray.

After a few monthes or a year, spray them again, because they'll get dusty, and this will clean them up and make them look freshly dried...(oxymoron)!

Good luck.
