How can I best increase the lifespan of fresh-cut roses?

Trim away the leaves and crack the stems close to the cut by bending them a few times. They obsorb water better this way and by trimming the leaves the water stays clean longer.Change water daily. The bleach does work but you should not need it if the leaves are gone. One last tip.Only fill the vase 1/4 of the way full. When the flower begins to wilt cut, crack, change water and put in the fridge for an hour.
