How far up my transplanted roses do i need to put dirt?

Hi, i am trasnsplanting 24 knockout roses...from 1/2 gallon pots...still small...what part of the trunk/stem needs to be covered by dirt...

How far up my transplanted roses do i need to put dirt?
cover to same lvl that is in pot no higher no lower
Reply:FAR ENOUGH SO THAT AFTER COMPACTED AND WATERED THEY DON'T FALL OVER.
Reply:Try to plant them to the same depth they were planted in the pots. If you bury them deeper, they'll grow just fine, BUT, they'll also start growing from the graft, and you might wind up with 2 different types of roses on the same plant.

When I plant roses, I usually put a little manure and compost in the hole, then some dirt, and mound the dirt up in the middle and set the plant in. I eyeball the surrounding ground to see if the plant is at the correct height. It's okay to have the plant a tad higher than the surrounding ground, as when you water, you don't want the water to go right up against the plant itself. I usually make a depressed circle all around the plant to hold water, with the plant itself a tiny bit higher.

Give the roses a year and they'll be blooming and beautiful!
