Hi

spray some soapy water on them this gets rid of green fly on roses

Reply:They are aphids and they are boring tiny holes in your stems and sucking out the juice. So you want to get rid of them. First try spraying them with water from your hose. If that doesn't work, then try insecticidal soap which won't harm anything excepts the bugs.
Reply:Buy some ladybugs at the garden center. Water the garden before you release them, as they will be thirsty and you don't want them to fly away looking for water.

Also control the ants in the close vicinity of the roses, as ants carry aphids up to there and farm them for their honeydew.

You can buy insecticidal soap to kill them, and this is pretty safe. Sometimes you can just spray them off with water; the little wingless ones can't get back on their own.
Reply:You got aphids. Go buy some Sevin spray and follow the label.
