some roses have a strong smell to him yet nathing to me, and some smell lovely to me but has no purfume to him.
We have a garden full of lovely roses, why is it my husband and i can smell different roses????
Maybe smell is like hearing, ie. differing slightly based on gender?
Reply:there are thousands of olfactory sensors in each nose...they pick up different things...not all noses are the same..someone would say can you smell that? and i would say no or could only barely smell it...and sometimes i can smell stuff that another person cant....its not uncommon
Reply:Apparently this the case males and females pick up different smells men have heightened smells to us.
Must be a scientific reason for this for which I know nothing absolutely about.
Just as well if you ask me..ha ha
Reply:Because... the actuall reason why we smell is because of the shapes of the molecules that are released from any object. So the shapes of those molecules thereby determine what an object smells like! As for you and your husband, since everyone is created differently, the nose/brain does not recognize certain shapes based on what was smelled as a child! hoped this helps!
Reply:There seems to be a gender bias in awareness of scent. Also there is a genetic component, test this with fresias, some people smell absolutely nothing, thankfully I love their scent and feel quite smug that my husband can't smell them at all!
Reply:Its cos we all have different sense of smell, I can smell cigarette smoke a mile away but my partner cannot smell it if its 2 feet away!
Reply:you both have dodgy noses?
Reply:we are all attracted or tuned into different smells, the same way some people love a perfume etc and others it makes them wheezy or repels them
