Bought some rose bushes at Wal-Mart that I planted in the ground. Some are growing others are still dormant, and do not have any new leaves/shoots.
The ones that are growing had leaves on them when I bought them.
Will they all grow this season?
How to bring roses out of dormancy (or tell if they're dead!).?
Urinate on them. Seriously. The nitrogen compounds found in urine will feed the plants, helping them to grow a bit larger than they normally would and saving you money on fertilizer.
Hint: Also works on cats and paid escorts
Reply:You can tell if the ones without leaves are still alive by using your fingernail to scrape a little "bark" off of the base of the plant. If the color is green underneath the plant is still alive.
Reply:I once cut a well-established rosebush down to about 6" above the ground - nothing but little wood stumps, and it grew back big, healthy and beautiful. I would maybe just prune it a little so the roots don't have as much foliage to support.
