put them in water
My boyfriend just bought me roses - how do I make them last longer?
cut the stem about 1/2 in up from previous cut
with a sharp knife so as to not crush the stem
add about 1/4 teaspoon sugar to the water
then drop in 1 crushed aspirin
this will get you about 6 to 7 extra days before they become pressing material
Reply:Change the water every day and cut the stems 1 inch each time. They also have chemicals at the florist you can put in the water that helps.
Reply:If you dry them they will last a long time but they won't be fresh anymore.
Reply:withered roses look better
Reply:Roses don't last long after they're uprooted. the most you can do is put them in water. If he know you like roses he'll buy you some more.
Reply:Cut them UNDER Water and quickly transfer to a vase of water.
Reply:under running water, angle cut the ends of the flower stems. put them in fresh water and use a bit of sugar in the water. refresh your water each day and be sure all the stem ends stay in the water.
Reply:Cut the ends and put them in cold water.
Reply:water
Reply:Cut the ends of each stem about an inch. Strip off all leaves that will be below the water level. Add a little packet of that flower saver stuff that should have come with the flowers. If they didn't come with any, you could stop by the florist (or the floral department in your supermarket) and pick up a few packets of it They are usually free. Change the water in the flowers out every two days, and add a new packet of stuff each time.
Sometimes, how long flowers last really depends on the florist he bought them from and how they were kept. For Valentine's day last year, I bought my husband roses from one florist and he bought me some from a different florist. We treated them exactly the same way, and the ones I bought lasted nearly a week longer than the ones he bought.
Reply:usually when you buy roses they come with a little packet of white powder that you put into the water with them, that usually helps them last a while longer.
The alternative is to just wait until you start noticing they are wilting or opening up more, then hang em upside down to dry. I personally love dried flowers. Once they are dry put them back in a decorative vase. Ta da! Forever lasting roses ;-)
Reply:make him buy them for you often.
your boyfriend has purchased murdured flowers, they will die, if you choose to kill them slowly... keep them watered, if you choose to put them out of their misery, burn them.

Reply:There full of love, they can last =]
Reply:Water with an aspirin thrown in, makes flowers last longer because the aspirin kills bacteria that may cause rot and stop the stem from taking water to the flower.
Reply:Put them in a vase of water, and I think when they are dryed you hang them upside down for 24 hours, then supposedly the petals stay on longer.
Reply:put it in the freezer.... it works i still have my roses that someone special gave to me about 4 years ago... or you can try hair spray just use alot of it and let it dry
Reply:Put them in some warm water with a little bit of sugar and then cut the ends of the stems at an angle.
Reply:if there fresh roses ,re cut the stems 25mm ,place them in a vase with lemonade .at night put your rose in the fridge or cool place they should last one week .
Reply:put them in some water or plant them but if they are not real just keep them safe.
Reply:Cut it on an ANGLE, put it in water, and BEFORE it wilts, hang it upside down with a rubber band from a cabinet door or a nail on the wall, it will dry out and the pedals will stay on. It won't look as beautiful as now, but you'll have it forever as long as you are gentile with it. :-)
Reply:There should be a little plastic packet which you add to the water to help the roses stay fresh longer. In addition to that cut the bottom of the stems Under running water, just about 1/4 - 1/2 an inch and place in water. Change the water every day, that is very important. When you change the water you can add a teaspoon or so of sugar %26amp; mix it in well. Some people say that helps. You can also put them in the frig or someplace cool at night. Also, trim all the foliage from the part of the stem which is under water.
Reply:Get "Shultz-Instant" Cut Flower Food. This will make your roses to be fresh for two weeks w/o changing water. Put a teaspoon in a half galloon water base. Cut the leaves at the bottom first.
I love this find - I love roses a lot and I'm really glad i found this myself. Good Luck and enjoy your roses.
Reply:First cut the stems at 45 degrees angle and put them in water. If a bag of powder was attached to the flowers he got you put it in the water you will get an extra day out of them.
Reply:In order to last a long time roses need to have their water changed every other day. It is best to used room temperature water.(not to hot and not to cold.)
Make sure that no green leaves are below the water line. This would make fungi grow in the water. It is very important to have a little acid in the water to prevent disease. It is also important to have a small amount of sugar in the water to provide food for the cut roses this can be done easily if you add 1-fourth cup of either 7-UP or Sprite. NOT Diet soda. The lemon flavoring will be the acid to keep the water clear and a little bit of sugar will keep the roses well fed. When changing the water be sure to add fresh 7-UP or Sprite.
