What to put in water to keep roses fresh, other than aspirin and bleach?
Sugar. But a drop of bleach kills any bacteria which will kill the bloom.

Reply:Lemonade is supposed to work really well because of the sugar in the water - it acts like a sort of food. Plus it doesn't go bad very quickly
Reply:The very best way to keep roses fresh is to change the water on a daily basis and recut the stems frequently. The water additives are really for people who don't change the water. Would you want to drink water that you had been sitting in for more than a day? No. Neither do your flowers.
