Does anyone know how i can get rid of the green fly on my roses without using chemical products???

i have a dog and i dont want to put her at any risk around chemicals. If anyone knows of 'old fashioned ' cures from their parents/grandparents i would really love to hear them, thanks.

I agree, a weak solution of washing-up liquid does the trick. Mind you, Grandad used to chuck the entire washing-up bowl over them once the water had cooled down and he swore by that.

I believe it's something to do with the detergent b*ggering up their waxy skin, or something along those lines.
Reply:Sorry, but l don't really agree with any of the answers,Spraying with soapy water etc is okay, but you have to do it quite afew times,as they get sluggish and only die a more than one application.Far better and more enjoyable,is to put the hose onto them.Put it onto a wide, soft spray, and throw them off by aiming the noozle from close up at them. They fall off,and die from starvation, they do not climb back. The rose buds are not damaged and it's quick and highly effective
Reply:When you are finished doing your dishes, take the dish water and pour it over your roses. The soap deters insects and pests and is not harmful to the plants at all. I have done this for years and my roses are beautiful and bug and disease free.
Reply:For years the best way is the natural way, encourage ladybirds. They have always worked for me, and don't damage plant or environment.
Reply:Dilute washing up liquid with water put in a spray bottle and spray away, keeps green and blackfly off
Reply:Spray them with a weak solutiion of fairy liquid and water. It kilss the green fly and not your roses
Reply:A solution of soapy water does work, but the next lot will arrive the next day or so.
Reply:I spray mine with potato water , for white fly it works.
Reply:Diluted soap in a spray bottle is correct.
Reply:soapy water
Reply:Light soapy water.

Lady bugs
Reply:yes get a spray and mix a mild solution of washing up liquid and spray all overthe plant or rose.but not in sunshine
Reply:spray with washing up liquid ones a week about 3 weeks that will do the trick
